I’m sitting at the Fast Company Leadership Summit at BB King’s Blues Club and I strike up a conversation with one of the women at my table.  I told her about SoundCtrl and she said, “Oh.  Then do I have a story for you.”

Apparently Target is doing a campaign for Christmas where they have FIFTY artists and bands create original Christmas Carols, which will be put on a vinyls as giveaways for the holiday season.

Blackilicious and Guster are both great choices because they’re known, but not everyone knows them, so they wouldn’t be tooooo expensive to commission their musical services.  More importantly, they have devout followings many of which wouldn’t go to Target normally and would also help spread the campaign virally at the very least.

So I say hats off to Target for this campaign (in theory) and for not using Black Eyed Peas again.  I look forward to hearing more about it.
