That equation can also be translated to: “it’s about f***ing time”. Ticket sales might be slowing down for some of the larger Live Nation venues, but at least they made this smart move for the concert industry. However, one must ask whether or not the fans will bite?
So what is GrouponLive? It is a newsletter where Groupon will offer discounts and exclusive deals for Live Nation events.
For years I have said that the music industry should embrace innovation, technology, internet culture as opposed to shutting doors. Guilt City did a VIP ticket promo with Coachella, which was genius. It increased conversation leading up to the festival and gave desperate music fans a last minute chance to attend.
I’m assuming the GrouponLive deal was in the works before that announced, but it was most likely encouraging for Live Nation to hear that one of the top US festivals using deal sites in unique ways.
