The concept it simple. Midnight tonight, Fucked Up will release David Comes To Life for the cheap price of $3.99 (in MP3) via MatadorRecords.com. However, the catch is that the price will steadily rise to normal album price by noon tomorrow. They have dubbed this “MIDNIGHT MADNESS”.
Pay what you want worked Radiohead. $.99 has most certainly been working for Lady Gaga. $1 worked for Fanfarlo. $3.99 worked for Arcade Fire. Whether you’re trying to sell records to your fans who probably would have just torrented it or you’re creating a cheap price point so someone might take a chance on your band, testing out price is worth it. I commend Fucked Up for trying something new, so lets see if this gimmick works out.
