Having a day job in digital advertising, I always find myself interested in other intelligent ad folks who actually get the digital space and aren’t just throwing around buzz words to sound smart. That being said, when Jesse K sent me over this op-ed on Hypebeast from Sky Gellatly, I felt the urge to share it. And for those of you who don’t know, Sky is also a DJ and manager on top of being a blogger and Director of Strategy for Team Epiphany, so he keeps fairly busy.
A few notable quotes:
“The face of digital media has shifted considerably in the last two years. Facebook is now our time-tested platform of news and voyeurisim; every cell phone has a camera, and every step in a day is now a landscape for a mobile upload, Tumblr post, or a Twitpic.”
“Traditional media, both print and TV, has been leapfrogged, as the gap between consumer and celebrity/designer/artist is now but a tweet away.”
“As for today’s youth, aptly referred to as being of the “Millennial” or “Verge Culture” generation, they want to consume content with the immediacy of five minutes ago.”
