Nokia Unveils Free Music Streaming Service in the U.S.

By Dave Mainella

Nokia announced today the launch of its Nokia Music free music streaming service exclusively for U.S. customers with Nokia Lumia handsets.  Customers with the Nokia Lumia 900 and Nokia Lumia 710 can download the new app for free from the Marketplace.

The free service, and free of advertisements as well, streams music from a collection of over 150 playlists updated and maintained by an “expert team of US based musicologists.”  Users have access to millions of songs ranging a variety of spectrums and including such contemporary, global musical powerhouses as Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna.

Consumers can also use the “CREATE” function to make their own personalized playlists based on artist preferences.

Other features include offline functionality for maximum convenience and playability, and the “GIG FINDER,” which locates a users position and identifies concerts and shows in their area that might be of interest.

Without subscriptions or advertisements, the completely free and seemingly unlimited streaming service offers interesting possibilities for mobile media.  Nokia suggests further collaborations and deals offering exclusive services and music opportunities.
