Superglued’s Summer Music Junkie Contest Kicks Off Its Second Year

Today SuperGlued (editor’s note:  read my interview with founder Rush Doshi here), the live music social media-based community, along with MTV Hive, MTV’s newly launched site for passionate music fans, launched the second annual New York Summer Music Junkie contest. For the next 10 weeks, metro area concertgoers can rack up points for their social media activities as they go from show to show from now until September 4, with weekly prizes including CMJ badges, SummerStage passes, concert tickets and gift certificates to local food trucks and retail stores. The Grand Prize is a trip to Coachella 2012 that includes a ticket, airfare and lodging. Contest partners such as CMJ, Paste Magazine and SummerStage will highlight the best shows throughout the summer with weekly picks.

After signing up here, participants earn points for common concert-going social media activity such as posting Tweets, checkins, photos, videos, blog reviews and setlists. SuperGlued members can connect to their Facebook, Twitter and FourSquare accounts, and link to other popular services such as Flicker, YouTube, WordPress, Tumblr and Blogger so it’s easy to account for all of their activities. SuperGlued has put together a comprehensive calendar of shows and festivals that is also accessible through its iPhone and Android apps.

“Last year’s Summer Music Junkie contest showed the serious competitiveness of New York music fans, with the winner checking in to 31 shows in 48 days, posting hundreds of photos and videos. I can’t wait to see how people step up their game this year,” said Rush Doshi, co-founder of SuperGlued. “Beyond the competition, the contest serves as a way to highlight the diverse and vibrant live music scene in New York and to connect concertgoers through their shared experiences.”
