A month or so ago I met Alan Chan through a mutual friend. He told me about his new startup called Bre.ad. Essentially, Bre.ad is a new URL shortening site that allows the user to create and share a 5 second billboard between clicking a link and being driven to final site destination. Check out the video below for more info.
Last week, I had Alan come into my office to meet with a few of the folks in my department because there’s definitely a benefit for our various brand clients in using this completely free platform (for now at least) to distribute content and bring awareness to various events we’re supporting.
Through the course of our meeting, I realized 3 main benefits to Bre.ad:
Bre.ading redefines display advertising by allowing someone to drive others to download an album or register for an event without shoving it in their face repeatedly because the final destination of the link will (hopefully) be completely relevant and interesting to the person who clicked it.
The analytics Alan’s team is developing will help add more insight to sharing content (more on that later this year)
Artists and labels now have the freedom to get really creative using the Bre.ad billboard. It is potentially a great way to drive Twitter follows and Facebook likes.
Don’t take my word for it. Try it out for yourself here.
