On October 7th party-rocker Andrew W.K., will perform a keyboard solo that will send 1 million volts through the body of magician David Blaine in what sounds like the greatest Onion article never written.
The stunt known as Electrified is part of a three-day, Intel-sponsored Blaine event at New York’s Hudson River Park Pier 54 called The Ultrabook Experience. Blaine will stand in the middle of seven high-powered tesla coils, controlled by W.K.’s keyboard.
As the man behind songs like “Party Hard,” “Party Party Party”, and “Party Til You Puke” riffs, a million volts will pass through an imprisoned Blaine standing on a 20-foot tall platform.
“A 1,000,000 volt keyboard?” said an obviously excited W.K. in a statement. “This is absolutely a once in a lifetime musical experience and probably the most dangerous musical instrument ever created! I’m absolutely electrified and terrified by the opportunity to play a keyboard solo with so much energy, and to use this incredibly powerful device to send a musical surge through David’s brain! I just hope he can withstand my high-powered party piano playing!”
The keyboard solo takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. For the rest of the event, the Tesla coils will be powered by Ultrabooks located around the world.
The entire three-day event will be streamed live on YouTube (if only Intel had had the foresight to have Michael Bay direct the feed, this could have been forever known as the Low-Hanging Fruit Fest).
