Raise Cache for hackNY

Raise Cache will transform Silicon Alley into a catwalk, to benefit the next generation of hackers innovating and redesigning New York, with a fashion show, silent auction, open bar and blow out dance party celebrating all things New York. With the goal of raising $100,000 for hackNY, the event will bring the popular online music sharing site Turntable.fm to life on the floors of the State Armory with live DJ sets by the New York Tech community.

Turntable.fm founder Billy Chasen will be joined by fellow NYC tech rockstars Dennis Crowley (foursquare), Fred Wilson and Andy Weissman (Union Square Ventures), Mark Bao (Onswipe), David Goldberg (Stylecaster), Michael Galpert (Aviary), Lauren Leto (TextsFromLastNight.com), Ian Jennings (hackNY), Courtney Boyd Myers (The Next Web) and fashion blogger Saucy Glossie on behalf of Thre.ad to man the 1’s and 2’s.

Giant custom avatars designed by Everything Butt Art’s illustrator Alexis Moniello will be displayed at the event, representing each special guest DJ, while NYC tech, fashion, and media unite on the dance floor and sip cocktails from the SecondMarket sponsored Liquid “Cache” bar. Attendees and listeners at home will be able to interact with the DJs using the Turntable.fm app’s Awesome and Lame buttons.

The DJs will not be the only celebs in the house; well-known figures in the tech community from David Tisch (managing director of TechStars) to Brooke Mooreland (Fashism) will be making their modeling debut on the Raise Cache runway in looks provided by every New York Fashion startup in your bookmarks to stylized beats by 4AM DJs Orazio Rispo and DJ Price via Dubset.

100% of the proceeds from Raise Cache will go to hackNY, an organization dedicated to fostering the next generation of innovators for New York. hackNY’s Fellowship Program matches exceptional students with NYC tech companies for summer internships, and their 24-hour hackathons challenge students to build their own applications using the APIs from various New York startups.

Raise Cache was conceived to highlight the talented people and disruptive companies that make up the New York Technology ecosystem. Want to Raise Cache for hackNY? Tickets are on sale now at Eventbrite, starting at $30 for students and $70 for general admission.
