Junip partners with Hipstamatic for photo contest

Sweden’s dream pop meets Spanish folk quintet Junip has teamed up with iPhone app Hipstamatic for a photo contest. The contest challenges people to take creative pictures of FIELDS, which is the title of Junip’s new album, using the app.
I signed up for Junip’s email blasts in exchange for a free EP back in May. Brian Long, Junip’s US manager, told me that the band gained 13,000+ email addresses from the giveaway campaign and that, ” it was a win-win for the fans and band alike.”
I find the Hipstamatic campaign to be a great follow up to the giveaway especially since Jose Gonzales and the rest of Junip are avid users of the app. The target demographic for Junip are users as well, so it was a perfect fit when Mute Records, Junip’s label, came up with the idea. Also, Hipstamatic would gain from the exposure to the 13,000+ list they accrued in addition to being associated with an up and coming band, so it’s a symbiotic partnership.
With partnerships like these, it’s easy to spot a fake and this is not one of them. So if you got an iPhone, download the app, take the wildest scenic photos, and submit them for the contest.
