TechCrunch’s Disrupt conference coming up next week

Disrupt might be the most content valuable conference all spring and, as a result, me and Jesse will there to share with you play by play on Twitter. All too often I find conferences to be talking heads on a stage flattering themselves and their company with nothing accomplished or resolved except for some light networking at the end.
With Disrupt, TechCrunch ask clear questions on each of the three days (May 24-26) and has gathered the brightest minds throughout most industries (view speakers here) in order to hopefully gain insights on where to head next:
Monday, May 24: “What’s Going On?”
A high-level look at societal changes in how we consume and share information, and why. The following days will focus on how these changes are influencing platform development and business strategy in media, advertising and technology.
Tuesday, May 25: “How are Platforms and Content Evolving?”
Discuss mobile, microblogging, the transition of traditional media into the digital realm, and how to monopolize on these platforms towards a company’s growth.
Wednesday, May 26: “How do You Find Your Audience –and Make Money?”
Content creation and distribution change, so must business models. How can artists, brands, advertisers and other merchants reach the right audience, with the right message, at the right time?
The most interesting segment of the conference is the Startup Battlefield where they have given a platform for startups to demo and then duke it out in a tournament-style competition. The winner gets $50k!!!!!! For some startups, that’ll pay operating costs for a year, but for others it’s a month. Regardless, it’s a chunk of change worth fighting for.
On a slightly off topic rant, I’ve said this for a while, but there needs to be a tech reality show. Why do chefs and pawn shops get reality shows, but the outrageous life of the startup gets no love??? Anyways, hope to see you next week and if you haven’t bought tickets yet, pick them up here (note: today ends Early Bird price).
