In addition to building a vibrant online community, SoundCtrl will also host a series of monthly events featuring industry leaders and New York based music and technology companies. We are encouraging an open dialogue within this community of industry professionals and want your input as a part of this groundbreaking panel.
Alli Allison Mooney has been working in media and marketing for seven years and was part of the launch team for MobileBehavior, an Omnicom Group company. As the Director of Trends & Insights, she leads the group’s innovation lab, Next Great Thing, manages behavioral research efforts, and guides brand-to-consumer mobile engagement strategies.
Alex K Alex Kirshbaum heads the business development department for NUE Agency Inc., a boutique music talent agency that primarily focuses on concerts, tours and endorsements. Alex double majored in finance and marketing and graduated from AB Freeman School of Business at Tulane University in New Orleans. Alex has always had a passion for music and in the past has worked with Koch and American Talent Agency. Alex Kirshbaum is proactive, social, hardworking, and has experience producing events for 10 years. He also sits on the junior board for 2 companies, The Samuel Waxman Foundation and Measy.com providing various services for both entities.
Ariel_Hyatt_9_screen Ariel Hyatt is the founder of Ariel Publicity & Cyber PR a New York based digital firm that connects artists, authors and filmmakers to blogs, podcasts, Internet radio stations and social media sites. Over the past 13 years her firm has represented over 1,400 musicians of all genres.Several times a year, she leads sold-out workshops to musicians and music industry professionals looking to learn about Social media and online marketing. Her bi-weekly ezine and YouTube series “Sound Advice” has over 10,000 subscribers and the list is steadily growing.
Chris P. Chris Phenner is SVP Business Development at Thumbplay, with over 12 years experience around software, digital media and online subscription services. Chris is responsible for driving new customer acquisition via Integrated Partnerships, including exclusive relationships Thumbplay has with AOL, Clear Channel, Comcast, MSN & iLike.Prior to Thumbplay, Chris was Director of Business Development at Audible, Inc., Business Development Manager at CNET Networks’ Download.com and Director of Business Development at Napster (1.0). Chris was also business development manager at RollingStone.com and in marketing with Spyglass, Mosaic’s original licensor.Chris has a B.A. in Political Science from Miami University, and an MBA from a dual-degree program with U.C. Berkeley and Columbia University, and is the original author of the “business development” article on Wikipedia.
Chris Schl Chris Schlarb aka Mannix, has been in the music industry since 1997 and was instrumental in the early development of the internet as a marketing and revenue generating tool. As early as 2001, Chris was managing viral marketing initiatives for a variety of major artists and labels. He later moved on to developing a successful digital business for record label/distribution companies VP Records and Ryko. In addition, he is the CEO of DubShot Records, a digital only record label concentrating on developing artists and applying new digital and mobile revenue models
CL Corey “CL” Llewellyn is the founder and CEO of Digiwaxx Media, the premier global marketing and promotions agency specializing in urban lifestyle, culture and music. As a seasoned music magnate and leader within the music industry CL has furthered his powerful influence with the creation of American King Music Group.
David David Chaitt is the blog editor here at SoundCtrl.  He has a deep history in the music industry working in conjunction with companies such as Ropeadope Records and Live Nation. David currently is a marketing consultant for artists, labels, and music startups on top of being the creator/producer of the Backyard Brunch Sessions.  He loves live music, cooking, writing, homebrewing beer, bikram yoga, and traveling as often as possible. Diego Diego Vargas born in Peru, raised in Spain, and finally the United States. Diego’s exposure to a wide variety of music and culture fueled his passion for the music business. From interning at Bad Boy to his current position at Cornerstone, he has been fortunate enough to experience a digital revolution along the way. And through SoundCtrl, will continue to be part of this exciting movement and better understand the business and the way it is evolving.
Ed James Ed James is President and Founder of Cornerstone [Public Relations]. With 15 years of public relations and marketing experience, Ed James created Cornerstone [Public Relations] in early 2006 as an extension of lifestyle marketing firm Cornerstone Promotion. Since founding CPR, Ed has worked on projects for companies such as HBO, Converse, Turner Broadcasting, Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Microsoft’s Zune, the FADER, Boost Mobile.Prior to joining the Cornerstone team, Ed was a founding member of The Morris and King Company where he served as Senior Vice President and managed key client relationships. With an emphasis on film and television, Ed has also handled clients in technology, media, lifestyle, general entertainment and non-profit sectors. Ed had the esteemed pleasure of serving as a judge for the Brooklyn International Film Festival. He earned a B.F.A. from Syracuse University and currently resides in New Jersey with his wife and children.
Elizabeth Pigg Elizabeth Pigg is the Vice President of Media Strategy at Edelman Digital where she oversees social media programs for a variety of brands. She has spoken at several industry conferences, including WOMMA, Digiday and Pace University’s Executive Summit. Prior to Edelman, Elizabeth was the Marketing Director for the Chicago Opera Theater and the Chicago Sinfonietta. Elizabeth is a violist and a member of the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble and has toured with national recording acts.
Emily Emily Gannett is co-founder of KlickableTV, an interactive online video platform. Emily oversees content development with a focus on partnerships, marketing & sponsorships. Prior to KlickableTV, Emily ran her own consultancy assisting producers of feature-length films & TV series to optimize their brand integration & product placement opportunities. She sits on the Board of Advisors at Green Owl Records & is a founding member of the Executive Committee of Social Media Week NY. Emily is an avid skier and tri-athlete; currently training for her seventh NYC Marathon.
jasonk Jason King, Ph.D is the Director of The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music, an innovative leadership institute for aspiring young music entrepreneurs at Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. He teaches classes on branding, music discovery & recommendation, and music history. Professor King has been a pop music critic for magazines like Vibe and Blender as well as a producer and manager for major label and indie artists. Jason is the author of The Michael Jackson Treasures, a Barnes and Noble exclusive biography on the King of Pop, and a book called Blue Magic, on the role of energy in the music of artists like Jay-Z, forthcoming from Duke University Press.
Jeannette Arrowood is an innovate businesswoman who founded Pleased Productions to help small businesses, artists, and authors brand themselves online. Jeannette has a strong background in the digital and community management world. She can code, she can talk to clients, she can give solid art direction, and Jeannette always considers every side of a situation before taking action. She has been a producer for public radio, worked for software startups, and now runs social media for large, Fortune 100 companies at Fleishman-Hillard. Follow Jeannette on Twitter @nettap.
Jelani H Jelani Hasan serves as Webmaster for SoundCtrl’s online properties. As a Multimedia Developer, he’s worked in radio for Clear Channel and CBS Radio. These experiences have given him a wealth of knowledge to bring to the online and digital communities. Jelani has also worked with The Source Magazine, Victoria’s Secret, Marc Ecko’s Sweat Equity Enterprises as a mentor to students interested in getting into creative fields, and most recently consulted for Mary J. Laura W. Laura Werkheiser is the Director of Youth Marketing at MobileBehavior. A self-described “pop culture junkie,” Laura develops marketing campaigns that leverage digital and mobile media and resonate with young consumers. Prior to her current role, Laura led public relations efforts for AT&T in the Bay Area. She has a BA in Communications from Santa Clara University.

Matt G Matt Graham is the president of BRND MGMT, a recently formed artist management and brand positioning firm.
