While the App Store is nowhere close to reaching critical mass just yet (and that’s a good thing), we decided to narrow down the plethora of free and paid apps and collect some of our favorite music-related ones of recent. Specifically, we turn our focus to five our favorite resourceful apps, ones that could let you pretend to be a bedroom musician/producer anytime you please.

1) iDrum – The one still to beat for beat composition even if you lack musical experience. Bands like Depeche Mode and Underworld have latched onto the app from with their own customized versions. Created by Izotope.

2) Gigababy – Great for 4-track recording; also see download Sonoma Wire Works’ FourTrack app here. $9.99 (Sonoma). Purchase here.

3) Bloom – Developed by ambient godfather Brian Eno and Peter Chilvers, the app is plays with “the idea that…anyone cancoax gentle melodies and ambient soundscapes out of their iPhone.” $3.99. Purchase here.

4) iRockGuitar – Learn how to play the guitar, including chords etc and make music on your own. Available in Lite form for free and full version costs. $.99.

5) Bebot Robot Synth – For $1.99, you can user your finger to indulge in plenty of voice with this voice synth tool, which lets you change parameters of sound via a happy robot tool. It’s similar to a Kaoss pad,  the kind that Daft Punk uses, at a much cheaper price. Purchase here.
