Ben Sollee embarks on his Ditch The Van tour

My buddy Ben Sollee was recently in Brooklyn on the Appalachian Voices Tour with Jim James (My Morning Jacket) and Daniel Martin Moore. Before the show, Ben was talking about how after the AV tour he was gonna hit the road on his bike for an entire month playing shows with all his gear (note: he plays CELLO, so it’s not like this is a small task).
I didn’t really hear much else about it until he sent an email to his friends to share his first video:
“I’m excited to share the first installment of the videos for the Ditch the Van Tour. The tour is a self-supported national music tour by bicycle. We carry all of our own gear on the bikes and do are best to put on sustainable, community oriented events. I’m really excited about this tour and want to get the word out. I hope you can help.”
This first installment sets the mood for what is to come and explains the obvious rationale behind biking across country. Overall, it’s really great to see musicians being creative with their touring while trying to send a positive message as well.
I hope you enjoy and are willing to support this endeavor by checking out one of the dates on the tour at a city/town near you.
