What is an Influencer?

Recently, I watched the short film, “Influencers” by R+I Creative, that to tried set out and answer that question. They attempted to define what makes someone an influencer and what effect the influencer has on the arts and culture in general.
The full, fourteen-minute version is posted below and features music by legends like Duke Ellington and A Tribe Called Quest to contemporary lo-fi rockers Wild Nothing. In addition, the filmmakers interview top trendsetters and influencers in music, fashion, and advertising, including Rob Stone (Cornerstone) and Steven Staple (Staple Design).
Considering the length and the magnitude of the subject, I think they did a good job. Asking such broad questions can often lead to rambling, so I’m glad they cut it short, so check it out.
