Built by James McVay, an engineering student based out of New Zealand, for his fourth year honors project with the Victoria University of Wellington, the musically-inclined, MIDI-powered machine is referred to as the “MechBass.” Here’s a video of the bass playing the track “Hysteria” by Muse, with up close shots of its inner workings. Seriously, this is insanely cool.
